One direction that generated enthusiasm was to make the Future Commons into a place where people in the early stages of a project (research or startups) to come and discuss their ideas. Example of positive exchanges for both sides include Alex and Eric from Trustmojo, Judd and Benjamin from Mycroft, Jessica Hardwick from Swapthing.

We also want the FC to continue to be a place where people can start projects from within the group, and present to the group later. Probably the best example of this is the pervasive game we created and then played.

From the Open Space meeting, one group drew up this list defining success:

  • Large active group with three thriving projects among members
  • Lively discussions
  • Experimental crucible for social networking
  • Becomes one of three organizations for emerging research on knowledge practices
  • Future Commons spontaneously regenerates in IFTF says no more
  • Core of a learning environment for society around FC practices
  • Spawns projects about futures
  • FC is a truseted resouces for preferred futures with respect to FC core
  • Personal professional engagements
  • Attract 600 additional participants by 2010
  • Nurture projects that address world issues and opportunities for the future
  • Social contracts around knowledge sources
